Cope Wins Exemption Into Second Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School
Jack Cope’s performances during the 2025 season have earned him one of the most important milestones in his professional golfing career so far – exemption from the First Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School. This achievement reflects not only his consistent play across the Clutch Pro Tour Tier 1 events, but also his ability to perform under pressure against strong competition.
Each year, the DP World Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) provides a route for aspiring players to secure a place on the DP World Tour. It is a demanding process, traditionally consisting of three stages – First Stage, Second Stage, and Final Stage. For most professionals, starting at First Stage involves competing in a gruelling four-round event at one of several venues across Europe, with only a fraction of the field advancing. By earning exemption, Cope has bypassed this opening hurdle entirely, saving himself not only a challenging week of golf but also significant travel and accommodation costs.
Cope’s exemption comes through his position in the Clutch Pro Tour Tier 1 Order of Merit, where the top four players as at the Q- School entry deadline of 13th August’25 gain automatic entry into Second Stage. His strong finishes, including multiple top-three results, have kept him consistently high in the standings. This means he can focus his preparation on the Second Stage, where the stakes are higher and the field is filled with proven international talent.
By skipping directly to Second Stage, Cope gains extra time to refine his game, manage his schedule, and peak at the right moment. This advantage could prove crucial as he attempts to secure a spot in the Final Stage, where a coveted DP World Tour card awaits. For Cope, this exemption marks a clear step forward on his journey to competing full-time at the highest level in European golf.
